RezCourt is a volunteer-run community project for booking free public court time. We collect the least we can get away with, we don't sell any of it, and you can delete all of it yourself at any time.
The short version: we store your name, email and your bookings so the app works. Other players only ever see your first name, last initial and photo. No ads, no trackers, no analytics, no data sold or shared with advertisers.
Who we are
RezCourt is an independent community project run by volunteers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any city or municipal parks department. You can reach us at support@rezcourt.ca.
What we collect
| Data | Why we have it |
|---|---|
| First name and last initial | So other players know who they're meeting at the court. This is the only identity other users see. |
| Email address | To sign you in and to send booking reminders. Never shown to other players. |
| Profile photo | Optional. If you sign in with Google we use your Google account picture. Shown to other players. |
| Your bookings and play groups | To hold your court slot, show your history, and let other players join a group you opened. |
| Play group messages | To coordinate a game. Visible only to players who joined that group. |
| Skill level and notification settings | Your preferences, so groups match and reminders behave the way you asked. |
What we do not collect
- No advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.
- No background or continuous location tracking. Distances to courts are approximate and calculated on your device.
- No payment details — RezCourt is free and has nothing to charge for.
- No contacts, photos, files, or any other data from your device.
Signing in with Google
If you choose Continue with Google, we ask Google only for the basic sign-in scopes: your email address, basic profile (name and profile picture), and OpenID identifier.
We use them for exactly one thing: creating and signing in to your RezCourt account. Your name is split into a first name and last initial for display to other players. We never request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google service, and we do not use Google user data for advertising or sell it to anyone.
RezCourt's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke our access at any time from your Google account permissions page.
How your data is stored
Accounts, bookings, groups and messages are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on servers in the European Union. The site itself is served by Netlify. Both act as processors on our behalf.
Passwords, if you register with email, are hashed by Supabase's authentication service — we never see or store them in readable form.
Some preferences are also kept in your browser's local storage so the app works smoothly. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Who can see what
- Other players see only your first name, last initial, photo and skill level — on a play group you host or join.
- Messages in a play group are visible only to players in that group, and are deleted a day after the game ends.
- Nobody sees your email address, phone number, or booking history but you.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We share it only with the processors named above, or where we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
- Play group messages — deleted one day after the game ends.
- Bookings — kept as your history until you delete your account.
- Your account — kept until you delete it. Deletion removes your profile, bookings and messages within 24 hours, and any upcoming slots you hold are released immediately for other players.
Your choices
- See and edit your data — everything on your account page.
- Export it — download your full booking history as a CSV from the same page.
- Delete everything — the delete button on your account page removes it all. No email required, no waiting on us.
- Turn off notifications — individually, on your account page.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, port or erase your data, or to object to its processing. The account page covers all of these directly; if you'd rather ask a human, email support@rezcourt.ca.
Children
RezCourt isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be announced in the app before they take effect.
